Practice Policy
Practices for the Oak Hill swim team are rarely canceled outright, but may be altered to accommodate weather conditions. For example, colder weather may necessitate using dryland drills for the younger swimmers, to keep them from getting too chilled. In those cases, practice may be shortened as prudence demands. Generally, only lightning or IMMINENT severe weather will cancel a practice.
While Oak Hill is a recreational competitive swimming program, the coaching is quite good, and it will benefit your swimmer to attend as many practices as possible over the seven week season. While three days/week would be the minimum recommendation, making every weekday practice will result in better "muscle memory" and retention of skills and habits learned. Make the commitment to take full advantage of this short seven-week program, with daily attendance!
